Get into the sunrise!

Life….

Sometimes that’s the only word that comes to mind when things get really crazy. And it may even be followed by a sigh, a tear or a scream because sometimes life just becomes extreme. There isn’t one specific event or one “straw” that does it, but rather an accumulation of major life changing and life challenging events that happen over a period of time.

Have you ever noticed that when things get busy or life happens we forget to take care of ourselves? That when life gets "nuts" we turn to caffeine and sugar? We stop exercising and sometimes we even let our spiritual life take a back seat to our "real life". We stop listening to that little voice saying “hey…remember me”. We forget to use all the “tricks” and “tools” that help us unwind and recharge. And, most importantly, we forget to focus on all the good that is happening around us.

And then we are shocked when we don’t feel right. We wonder where our “mojo” went. It’s harder to laugh and our conversations center around how difficult things are or how “tired” we’ve become.

The reality is that life happens and sometimes the events are good and sometimes they down right stink. Sometimes you don’t know how you will make it through the next minute and other times you wish that time could stand still. The point is that life isn’t always easy and things happen, and the best we can do is take care of ourselves so that when the “tough stuff” comes around we have the energy and the stamina to get through it.

I’m beginning to realize that life is much like a sunrise….out of the darkness comes the most beautiful masterpiece filled with brilliance and magic….and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.

Action: Take some time today and reflect on whether or not you are doing a good job of taking care of yourself. Are you taking time to do the things that recharge your battery and fill you up? If not, now is the perfect time to start!

What happens when you get tired?

Sometimes our dreams take longer than we had planned; things just don't happen as fast as we hoped, and we get tired. We get tired of being positive in the face of slow progress. We get tired of being on the steep end of the learning curve. We get tired of naysayers. And we get tired of wondering if it's all worth it.

We understand because we follow dreams too. Some are big and some are small. Some come quickly and others take their time. But this we know: "Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did." ~ Newt Gingrich.

On this amazing journey you will encounter all kinds of things. You will meet all kinds of people. And you will learn an incredible variety of lessons. But only if you keep going. Perseverence is key. When you are tired and you want to give up remember that your dream may be fulfilled right on the other side of the hill you are on right now, but you have to get to the top to see it.

Action: When you get tired, do something that replenishes your spirtit and find a like-minded group or a coach to share your dream with, one that will support you and help you move forward.

Are you running on empty?

How do you hold up when everything around you is falling apart? Are you a planner, a list maker, or do you wing it?

Up until a few weeks ago I always thought that careful planning, being prepared and having my world "under control" was the way to keep things from falling apart. But what I realized is that "control" is just a coping strategy. The reality is that things happen, life happens; and only when it does can you know what you need to do to stay above water.

Each and every one of us has ways that we handle the little speed bumps in our lives. But no matter what methods you put into play, when things spin out of control it is important to remember that in order to make them effective, they must also take into consideration you and what you need.

Think of it like an airplane...if something happens, in order to "cope" you have to put on your own oxygen mask first or you won't be able to help anyone else. Remember, if you have nothing left, how can you effectively support or help anyone else.

The best way to cope with any situation is to have a strategy that not only addresses the current event, but supports you as well!

Action: Take some time to look at your internal "gas guage"...are you running on empty? Maybe you just need to "top off"...no matter where you are it is important to find and do activities that fill you up emotionally, physically and spiritually. Remember that no one can keep doing what they do if they are moving along on only fumes!

Is your life out of control?

The mindset piece of this week's Tidbit is courtesy of Marlene Blaszckyk, creator of Motivate Us! Thanks Marlene!

So often we forget that we can only control ourselves and how we react to situations. Be joyful and grateful for all you have. Focus on what you want, the life you want to live and become the caring and kind person you know you are.

Everyone, including me, has moments of doubt, pain and lonliness. That's part of the human experience - lessons we need to learn - so we can become more compassionate people. Everyone has triumph and tragedy in their life - it's hard sometimes to be positive when all around you sees so wrong.

And...you can do it!

Be committed to becoming the best person you can be. Always invest in yourself first. Learn, grow, reach! Remember you can do anything and be anyone you want to be. Learn to embrace change and use it to propel you to greatness.

As my friend Jim from Texas says, "A great week is your s for the taking! Take and give more than you take!"

Love,
Marlene

Action: Focus on yourself; your thoughts, your attidues. Keep them pointed in a positive direction.
