Why isn't it working anymore?

So you did it. You took the plunge and tried something new. It was scary, difficult and frustrating. But it was starting to work...things were starting to move along and circumstances were improving when suddenly it all came to a screeching halt. What happened?

There's a very good chance that what happened is...nothing. By nothing I don't mean that you weren't busy and you weren't trying. What I mean is that you very likely stopped doing some key things that were supporting your success.

Let's face it, doing something new means learning new long term habits. Oh sure, you'll do it for a while because it's new and interesting or you're really committed to a goal. But doing it day in and day out is a different story. Staying focused and working those daily disciplines often goes by the wayside as things start to get better or we start to get busy.

So when you feel like you're losing ground, facing a wall or just not running on all cylinders, take a minute and be sure that you're following through on the simple daily disciplines that define success for you.

Action: List the core activities that support your success in the area you want to focus on. These may be things that give you the inspiration, stamina and support you need to be your very best, they may be activities for your business or they may be things that support your relationships . Whatever they are, make sure they are ingrained in your day or front and center on your to do list. Then don't stop doing them unless you've identified something that works better.

How can you win?

Have you ever noticed that when you or someone you know consistently focuses on the "lemons", that they rarely learn how to make lemonade. When we focus on what we don't have, how things aren't fair or why someone else has it "better", rarely do we win.

People that find true happiness, focus and take action on the things that make other people shine. You can see it all around you. The best leaders never take credit for the accomplishments of others. The most successful parents shine the light on their children and their successes after checking their ego at the door. It's not about you, it's about how you affect those around you, and what you do to make a difference in the world.

When we set up our lives in a way that supports and helps other people win, we win.

Action: Live this week in a way that causes others to win! Find ways to shine the light on the good in other peoples actions and go out of your way to make someone smile!

Stuck? Afraid of change?

Change is something that many people fear. As human beings, we like routine, consistency and knowing that our actions will produce the results we are looking for. But change is one of the things that trips many of us up. Whether its a new job, graduation, marriage, or any new situation life throws at us, change is something that often is very challenging.

We've all had times that change hasn't been welcome, and I won't lie, even as we build ReclaimU, at times the fast pace changes that have come up have been extremely challenging . But I think what's gotten us through these moments is that when change has come up, we weren't afraid.

We didn't worry about all the "what-if's", but rather focused on the possibilities. And it helped. We learned from our mistakes (cuz we made them and had too!) and we grew as individuals and as a business. When most people think of change, they are fearful that they will not have the energy or the resources to move through a difficult situation. But what if you changed the energy you are spending on being afraid into the energy you need to try something new. How would things be different if you looked at change as an adventure, or a time to learn about your situation and use it in an empowering way.

You see, without change life would be monotonous and boring. And that's so far from what we are meant to be, do and have.... If we didn't change we wouldn't find out what we are truly capable of overcoming, and we would miss out on the excitement of accomplishing something we never dreamt possible. Change is merely an indication that you are ready to expand your comfort zone and meet new challenges, and that's nothing to be afraid of!

Action:
Turn your fear into the fuel you need to take action, move forward and catapult your dreams into reality! The next time you find that you are hesitating when faced with any type of change, focus on the possibilities that that change can bring. Make a list of all the positive outcomes that could happen, and refer to it often when things get challenging.
