So you did it. You took the plunge and tried something new. It was scary, difficult and frustrating. But it was starting to work...things were starting to move along and circumstances were improving when suddenly it all came to a screeching halt. What happened?
There's a very good chance that what happened is...nothing. By nothing I don't mean that you weren't busy and you weren't trying. What I mean is that you very likely stopped doing some key things that were supporting your success.
Let's face it, doing something new means learning new long term habits. Oh sure, you'll do it for a while because it's new and interesting or you're really committed to a goal. But doing it day in and day out is a different story. Staying focused and working those daily disciplines often goes by the wayside as things start to get better or we start to get busy.
So when you feel like you're losing ground, facing a wall or just not running on all cylinders, take a minute and be sure that you're following through on the simple daily disciplines that define success for you.
Action: List the core activities that support your success in the area you want to focus on. These may be things that give you the inspiration, stamina and support you need to be your very best, they may be activities for your business or they may be things that support your relationships . Whatever they are, make sure they are ingrained in your day or front and center on your to do list. Then don't stop doing them unless you've identified something that works better.
