Today's ReclaimU Tidbit is brought to you from Sandy Fowler's blog Choose My Life Now.
Take care of yourself first. It’s a phrase that’s bantered around a lot in our American culture. It is often related to something decadent and makes me think of selfish things. But today I came to think of that phrase a little differently.
I had a very busy day, and am actually in a very busy time with my businesses. I’ve been working hard and have had to pull out a few of my better time management techniques to keep my life in any semblance of balance, and to make sure I get to spend time with my family. I feel really good about what’s happening all around so I hadn’t noticed the stress sneak up on me. My husband, however, did notice it since it all got directed at him today.
After he very quietly rescinded his invitation to play cards, and I realized I felt relief, I knew I was out of whack. So I decided to take some time out for myself. In spite of the fact that I had been locked up in my office all day, not even coming down for lunch, I decided to leave my family and go take a relaxing soak in the tub. I got my bath salts, my candle and a little Chicken Soup book and headed for the tub.
While I was baking myself I focused on my feelings and my stress, faced it and let it all go. In 30 minutes I was out in the land of the living and had turned into someone my family would actually like to be around again. What I realized is that taking care of yourself first gives you the ability to take care of someone else. I was trying to take care of my husband by spending time with him and I am quite certain he didn’t feel very good about it. What I really needed was a little down time, some time to think and to release. Now I am at peace and I can actually take care of someone else.
Maybe choosing to take care of yourself first isn’t so selfish or decadent after all.
Action: Take a good, honest look at your life. Look at what you need in order to be your best then ensure you create space for it in your life.

What's Your Rep?
Today's ReclaimU Tidbit is brought to you from The Direction Diva blog Navigate Your Way.
With so many of us on the networking sites like facebook, twitter as well as the World Wide Web we felt that it was perfect for you as well! Enjoy!
Direction Moment: Our reputation is built upon many actions, but can be questioned by one.
Who we are and what we stand for come from within us, and the world discovers who that is by our actions. It's interesting tho that one mistake, one mis-spoken word can cause others to question our overall character. And because of this, in an "instant" and global age it is critical to be aware of what you put out there.
The other day a friend of mine posted a comment in response to something shared on facebook and whammo all of a sudden everyone was questioning his morals, his thoughts and his character. This is a person who many times has done things for others (often without recognition), and really has a great heart, but one smarty pants comment sent the masses into a spin.
Our actions and efforts can de-rail us and set us back if we fail to choose our words and actions carefully. I can hear you saying, "but they should know me better" and "sometimes I don't think about things like that". And this is why I wanted to talk about this today. You have to.
Our character and reputation are what we put out there. It is what connects us to others and helps us move forward in our lives. At a time where a comment is instantly seen by 100's if not thousands of people, it is important to be sure that you filter what you put out into cyber space, and be sure that it is in alignment with who you are and how you want the world to see you.
"Comments" and txts are not like conversations where you have the opportunity to "explain" yourself. They are seen as insites into your soul and they give a picture of who you are to others.
If what you share isn't carefully thought out, if you offend others and if you fail to be consistant with your actions, your reputation will be affected faster than you can get back from re-filling your coffee cup. So before you "hit the button" make sure that your voice is reflective of an action that builds your reputation not tears it down.
Action: Take an honest look at your "voice" as it appears to the world around you. How do you respond to posts by other people. Are you projecting the image you want others to have of you? Ask yourself if it us in alignment with your message and who you are.

Knowing Your Purpose
Do you know what you want? Do you have a definite purpose? Do you know what you desire?
Some people can answer these questions with a definite and resounding YES! and in others the voice that comes through sounds more like "I think I do". The reality is that the truth usually lies somewhere in between.
So often when we don't have a clear understanding of what it is that we want, we end up tripping over ourselves and getting frustrated. It may not be something monumental like your career, it could be as simple as not knowing what you want for dinner ( I mean who hasn't been hungry and spent way to long wandering the grocery store trying to figure out what to cook for dinner).

No matter what the situation, the frustration of not knowing often stops us from taking action.
And you know what happens then...NOTHING!
We stall, stop, go in circles and get in a twhirl. We search for the reason we are stuck and often it is as simple as a shift in your desires. Something inside changed and you want and need something different in your life.
Napoleaon Hill said it best.... "There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it." When you don't know your purpose, or don't know what you want, you can't possibly take action.
Action:
Ask yourself if you have lost touch with knowing what it is that you want. Determine if what you are working toward is in alignment with your true desires. And if not stop everything you are doing and take a little time and get to a place where desire starts to burn again.

Is it time to give up?
It’s that time of year. The holidays are over, the bills are coming in, the weather is gloomy and you’ve likely given up on some of your New Year’s resolutions. Ugh!
That’s quite a litany of things going wrong in your life, so it might just be time to give up. Yes, I said give up. What if you gave up worrying? What if you gave up beating yourself up over failures? What if you gave up letting outside forces determine your mood?
What would your life be like if you gave up on those thing? How would you feel? What would you do?
We believe that giving up on those things can help you feel better, do more and enjoy your life.
Action:
Pick something to give up on. Give up worrying about finances. Give up negative self talk. Give up hiding.
Lay out a simple, positive plan of action to replace the thing you’ve given up. Follow it and enjoy yourself!
